Holliston town officials have chosen a new supplier, Houston-based NextEra Energy Services, for their community choice power supply program.

HOLLISTON — Town officials have chosen a new supplier for their community choice power supply program, a move they say will reduce rates for town residents by 9%.

Holliston has signed a 36-month contract with Houston-based NextEra Energy Services.

The program rate will be $0.10331 per kilowatt hour. Energy will be completely sourced from National Wind renewable energy certificates.

“Residents have expressed concerns about the instability of the energy market and a strong desire to use more clean energy.” said John Cronin, chairman of the Holliston Select Board, in a press release. “With the lower rate and increased use of renewable energy, the Holliston Community Choice program responds to both of those concerns.”

Eversource’s rate, which changes every six months, will be $0.11882 kilowatt hours per hour.
